It is our great pleasure and privilege to welcome all of you to the Heart Valve Disease Symposium 2018 which will be held on August 17-18, 2018 in Seoul, Korea.

This annual symposium has been designed for medical professionals interested in the most updated and challenging issues on valvular heart diseases. This year, the Symposium will be focused on minimally invasive cardiac surgery (MICS) and transcatheter interventions in treating valve disease. As a pioneer in the field of MICS in Korea, I feel responsible for the current situation in Korea where MICS is not widely accepted in the cardiac surgery community. We hope that the Symposium may help young surgeons and cardiologists further understand every aspect of MICS and transcatheter intervention, thereby expanding the practice of MICS and transcatheter intervention in Korea. We also prepared the special sessions to present the team approaches in treating valve disease from other countries in Asia, Europe and North America. Besides the main Symposium, there will be several special lectures from the world-renowned speakers and a wet lab session for the implantation of sutureless and rapid-deployment aortic prostheses.

We will do every effort to bring you stimulating and well worthwhile experiences. Also, we hope you can enjoy your stay in Korea. We look forward to seeing you in August 2018.
